I just stumbled upon this piece by the LA Times’ Michael Hiltzik on Glenn Gould, who gave his last public recital 45 years ago this month in Los Angeles, at the age of 31. Gould, it seemed, predicted the advent of digital recording as a means of composition. (To this day, I simply cannot accept any version of the Goldberg Variations save Gould’s. Provincial, yes. I care not.)
