Happy May Day.
This picture of an elderly woman being arrested in the rain at an anti-Gitmo protest on Market Street, outside of DiFi’s San Francisco office in 2007 has been sitting on my desktop for ages, just waiting for this occasion. It’s raining here in New York, too — I must say that I felt a surge of pride today as I popped open my umbrella after work, taking in the sober, sweaty pro-union protest trudging its way down Broadway under heavy police surveillance. Nobody rallies better than you, San Francisco.
