Though it’s not an original Haring work and has only lived at the corner of Houston and Bowery for about a year and a half, this mural is still emblematic of the Lower East Side — or, of a really specific moment in NYC history that remains surprisingly strong.  (Though it’s not nearly as interesting as the graffiti Kenny Scharf excised into the sidewalks on Spring Street — that, right there, is some serious LES.)
