A two week stint in Baltimore should be compulsory for aspiring typographers, I do think. I spotted this fine specemin earlier today at H&H Camper’s warehouse, the military surplus mecca especially familiar to the MICA/Dan Deacon set (and also, outdoorsmen). H&H takes the whole ‘surplus’ thing to a whole new level; I’m fairly certain that the military has simply dumped it’s detritus in Baltimore following each war, as evidenced by the Vietnam-era surveillance equipment and Desert Storm ground covers that line row after row of the industrial shelves that clog the building’s bowels. Indeed, the place is haunted — it must be. How disquieting to find a box of castoff belts with soldiers’ identities inscribed on them?
